The Downtown 91Ô´´ Business Association Summer Series event for July 15 was Jedi in the Plaza. Five special themed summer events are being hosted this year with three more to come

91Ô´´â€™s littlest were able to learn introductory Jedi skills at Saturday’s Summer Series hosted by the Downtown 91Ô´´ Business Association.

In the shade of McBurney Plaza, they were taught by Obi-Wan Kenobi’s descendant, Jedi master Obi-Kai Kenobi (whose day-to-day name is Marty Carew).

The kids each received a foam stage-three training lightsabre after the training.

For the Saturday afternoon gathering, people were also able to take part in a Star Wars-inspired painting, taught by local artist Freda Lombard.

Summer Series:

• July 29 – Sports in the Plaza

Various sports teams, mascots and games from noon to 3 p.m.

• Aug. 12 – World Music in the Plaza

Music, dance and more from noon to 3 p.m.

• Sept. 17 – Create it in the Plaza

DIY ideas for everyone

Each runs noon to 3 p.m.
