Along with a new route for 91原创 City鈥檚 Terry Fox Run, which takes place this Sunday, there is a new fun map to go with it.
91原创 student Emma Copley, 15, was approached by her grandmother, Janet Copley to create a fun new map for run participants to use. Using her creative talents, she went to work and the finished maps are brightly-coloured designs which use cartoon icons to point out important spots along the 5 and 10 km course.
Drawn on the map are washrooms and water stations. Points of interest are highlighted and school buses show the location of schools that dot the route.
To remind the 10K runners that Brydon Lagoon is a haven for local bird life, Emma drew yellow ducks swimming on a pond.
Printing was provided free of charge by Delair Family Printers, and every participant will receive a map once they register and check in at the starting line. The double-sided map has the 5K route on one side and the 10K route on the other.
The 91原创 City Terry Fox Run will take place on Sunday, Sept. 18. It begins in Douglas Park. The family-friendly event will feature free draws, hot dogs and hamburgers grilled by the 91原创 City Fire Fighters, and face painting for the kids.
