PHOTOS: Aldergrove legion inaugural Halloween event a success

Organizers making plans for next year already

The inaugural Halloween event at the legion was a success on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Members of the Old Farts Car Club and The Rolling Barrage co-hosted a free Halloween event in partnership with the Aldergrove legion branch, and welcomed about 80 kids and their parents.

One costume that stood out to Kathy Anderson, member of the OFCC, was of a young girl who came to carve a pumpkin with her dad dressed as a unicorn.

"I think that was probably my favourite. You got to give the guy credit for dressing up," Anderson chuckled.

In addition to pumpkin carving, there were some cars decorated for "trunk-or-treating" in the parking lot, as well as the fire department with a truck for visitors to explore.

There was also a berry-go-round, brought in by Shooting Star Amusements, and Anderson hopes to have them back with more rides next year.

"It was a good trial run that we put together in less than a month. We're looking at going a different avenue next year," she told The Star.

That includes partnering with the Aldergrove Business Association and inviting home-based businesses to have booths in the legion parking lot.

Leftover pumpkins from the carving table are being donated to Kensington Prairie Farm for its donkeys, alpacas, and camels to enjoy.

"We're paying it forward," Anderson commented.
