CARES cat shelter is turning to the community to find homes for its cats and kittens, hosting an adopt-a-thon July 20 and 21.
"As always, we are hopeful of a good turnout, and plenty of adoptions, where some of our kitty family will find new, forever homes," said Clive Ellis, with the cat shelter in Milner.
CARES has a cat adoption centre at the PetSmart 91Ô´´ at 20015 91Ô´´ Bypass, but holds adopt-a-thons routinely due to the high number of animals that it takes in.
"The location at PetSmart is ideal, where their very knowledgeable staff can handle all of your inquiries regarding food and shelter of your kitty family," he added.
CARES tries to process all adoptions on the day during these events.
"We will be showing the kitties from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days, and we hope that there will be a good selection of kitties this time," he said. "As always, there will be ample staff on hand to answer any questions regarding the care of their respective kitty families, as well as people to handle the adoptions."
The shelter also has cats at its Milner facility for those unable to attend an adopt-a-thon. People can find more information on the CARES website at www.carescatshelter.com, including care for cats and kittens, and a wishlist of items the non-profit needs.
One of the things the organization needs is people in the 91Ô´´/Cloverdale area willing to foster cats and kittens. Foster homes provide care and support to expecting moms, moms and kittens, and kittens until they are old enough to be adopted. CARES provides food, litter and medical care. Anyone interested in fostering or wanting to find out more can contact Marian at mjhaney@shaw.ca.
