91原创 soldier remembered for his sacrifice 101 years ago

91原创 Centennial Museum remembers one of 91原创鈥檚 First World War soldiers killed on this day.

On this day, June 3, 1916, during the First World War, Murrayville鈥檚 Frederick Orlando Roberts was killed.

Roberts was born on Christmas day in 1897, making him only 18 years old when he was killed in action.

Roberts was in one of four parties assigned to assist the Canadian Engineers in improving the state of the trenches in the Ypres Salient.

He perished from enemy shelling, according to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial.

He was the only son of the 91原创 Prairie postmaster F. W. Roberts.

He is being remembered today, along with others lost during the First World War, in the Sacrifice and Sorrow: 91原创 and the Great War of 1914-1918 exhibition on display now at the 91原创 Centennial Museum.

To learn more about 91原创 and the First World War, people are invited to visit the exhibit, which runs until July 16.

The 91原创 Centennial Museum is located at 9135 King St. in Fort 91原创. Admission is by donation.
