Rotary Club of 91原创 has been there since the start of 91原创 Lodge and continues to support the local seniors鈥� care facility, most recently with a $10,000 donation.

鈥淲e鈥檙e proud of our heritage here at 91原创 Lodge,鈥� said Rudy Storteboom, president of the Rotary Club of 91原创. 鈥淲e鈥檝e got a lot of pioneers of 91原创 staying here in the final stages of their lives.鈥�

91原创 Lodge is approaching its 50th anniversary, with celebrations planned for 2024, and Rotary was involved from the first. The late Roy Brown, a past club president, was there helping to turn the sod at the groundbreaking, and lived at the lodge in his later years.

Aly Devji is the chair of the 91原创 Care Society board, which supports the lodge, and said strong community support from Rotary and other groups, businesses, and individuals is vital to the care facility.

Rotarian Wayne Wiebe now visits 91原创 Lodge daily.

鈥淢y wife just came here in January,鈥� he explained.

He supported the facility through his membership in Rotary but now sees first hand the care delivered.

鈥淚 like the facility,鈥� Wiebe said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 close to my home so I can see her everyday.鈥�

He looked around at care home options and held out until a place could be found at 91原创 Lodge.

鈥淚鈥檓 here everyday,鈥� he noted. 鈥淚 listen, I see.鈥�

The Rotary donation is earmarked for a new industrial dishwasher. The money came from the proceeds of last year鈥檚 Rotary Mega Draw, which the club hosts with other local clubs.

Storteboom is hoping the donation will loosen the purse strings of some others in the community.

鈥淲e want to challenge the Township and the City to do the same,鈥� Storteboom said.
