During a presentation on Friday, May 19, Joel Schacter, City of 91原创 mayor Ted Schaffer, City councillor Rudy Storteboom, and 91原创 Food Bank executive director Iain Mair stood next to fridge units purchased with grant money provided by the City.

Friday, May 19 was a cool day for Iain Mair.

The 91原创 Food Bank executive director, Mair had the opportunity to personally thank the City of 91原创 for their community program grant of $3,000, which the food bank at 5768 203 St. used to purchase two fridge units.

One is a two-door unit and the other, a one-door.

鈥淚t is a blessing to us to have people like you who are involved in the community and we trust that we can continue to work together in the future to help our clients in the City of 91原创,鈥 Mair said in a letter to members of City Council.

The 91原创 Food Bank serves 300 clients each week (couples and families included). This equates to about 500 people each week using the food bank.

Among the clients are 35 Syrian refugee families and six families from 91原创鈥檚 Karen community.

鈥淎s soon as clients come through the doors and look at the fridges they say, 鈥榃ow, do I feel special,鈥欌 Mair said. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 amazing.鈥
