An online survey of 91原创 City residents and visitors asks them how long it takes to find a parking spot, the time they take walking to their destination, and what improvements they would like to see, among other things
It's part of a City plan to develop a new parking strategy to prepare for future growth that focuses on the Nicomekl and Douglas neighbourhoods, specifically downtown 91原创, the Brydon Park area, and the Michaud Crescent area.
Accessible until Sunday, March 9, the survey can be found online at and people who take the poll can enter into a prize draw to win a $50 Visa gift card.
It's expected to take five to 10 minutes to fill out.
An Jan. 20 report from an advisory group about the proposed strategy said the area in question has 613 public on-street parking spaces and 124 off-street public parking spots, and suggested that while overall, those spots are able to meet current demand for spaces, specific streets can be a different story.
"There is a high parking availability in downtown 91原创," the report noted.
"However, there are hot spots of excess demand that may negatively skew public perception on the availability of parking. One street can have a significant demand for parking while spaces just around the corner sit vacant."
It went on to say a "comprehensive review of parking supply and demand can provide valuable insights that no one single person can alone offer."
A parking plan to guide future public parking decisions is expected to be ready by this spring, with the goal of "ensuring that residents, workers, businesses and visitors have fair and dependable access to parking options."
A 91原创 Chamber of Commerce blog post said the strategy may change how people and businesses access parking.
"This will impact public lot and street parking -- not private parking or requirements for parking in developments," the chamber said, encouraging members to fill out the survey.
