Condos in the ISOasis building will provide cats awaiting adoption a stress-free living environment, providing them vertical space, places to perch and hide, natural light, and a enough space to express their natural behaviours, said LAPS executive director Jayne Nelson.

91原创 Animal Protection Society is getting into the housing market with condos鈥or cats.

On Saturday, May 6, LAPS will present The Mews at ISOasis condo project, complete with a real-estate-style presentation centre.

鈥淐ould this be the real estate investment for you?,鈥 joked Jamie Schreder of Schreder Brothers Real Estate Group and Royal LePage Wolstencdroft.

This fundraising campaign looks to complete the cat condos and required furnishings for their state-of-the-art feline isolation building nicknamed, ISOasis, a play on isolation oasis for the cats and kittens in their care, Schreder explained.

He has a self-proclaimed 鈥渟oft spot鈥 for LAPS and has jumped on board, bringing his real estate expertise to this tongue-and-cheek fundraiser.

鈥淣ow鈥檚 your opportunity to invest in this state-of-the-art building,鈥 he joked. 鈥淛okes aside, I鈥檓 excited to be participating. We will be writing offers, and walking donors through their options, which will include the opportunity to purchase upgrades and even leave with the keys to your new condo.鈥

The ISOasis project has been a few years in the making and has been made possible through donations from the community and support from the Township of 91原创, explained Jayne Nelson, LAPS鈥 executive director.

鈥淲e are very grateful for all of the support we have received to date,鈥 she said, noting that funding is in place for LAPS to break ground and complete the build this summer, but there are few finishings that will make life at the ISOasis complete.

A sheltering first in Canada, the ISOasis will provide much needed space for the care of sheltered cats and kittens in the community.

This purpose-built facility will be located adjacent to the main shelter building, and will provide dedicated isolation space, cat condo suites, an intake room, and more to enhance the quality of life, reduce the time from intake to adoption, and limit the spread of feline related diseases, Nelson elaborated.

Veterinarian and LAPS board chair Kathryn Welsman noted the already high quality of care at LAPS will soon be more robust.

鈥淭he quality of care provided for all of our animals currently meets and often exceeds guidelines outlined by The Association of Shelter Veterinarians; the addition of the ISOasis will continue our track record for high standards in animal welfare,鈥 she said.

Event details:

This one-day, family-friendly event will be held at LAPS, located at the Patti Dale Animal Shelter, 26220 56th Ave., on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Nelson invites people to come and enjoy refreshments and entertainment, and also learn more about the LAPS ISOasis project.

Interested donors will be provided with a tax receipt, cat condo/room naming rights, and many cat cuddles.
