Jack is welcome in City green waste

A story in Tuesday’s 91Ô´´ Times incorrectly indicated that 91Ô´´ City does not permit residents to include pumpkin in their green waste.

A story in Tuesday’s 91Ô´´ Times (What to do with Jack)  incorrectly indicated that 91Ô´´ City does not permit residents to include pumpkin in their green waste. In fact, leftover jack o’ lanterns may be discarded along with other vegetation in  green bins in the City, as long as a household does not exceed its maximum of 40 pounds (18 kg) of green waste.

Now that autumn has arrived, the City of 91Ô´´ is also requesting help from residents in keeping catch basins clear to help prevent flooding.

The combination of fallen leaves and rain at this time of year can result in clogged catch basins and localized flooding.

Anyone who sees a trouble spot in their neighborhood is asked to take a few minutes to clear the leaves and other debris from the catch basin grates.  Please report any clogged or damaged catch basins to the City’s Operations Centre at 604-514-2910 or through their website at www.city.langley.bc.ca.
