Santa arrives in the historic village of Fort 91原创 this weekend, but he doesn鈥檛 come by sleigh or even a horse-drawn carriage.

Ol鈥� St. Nick will be arriving in true villager fashion, he鈥檚 paddling up the Bedford Channel by canoe, arriving just in time for the annual Christmas treelighting festivities Saturday, Dec. 2.

The merriment begins in front of the Fort 91原创 Community Hall on Glover Road, in the village centre at 5 p.m., with music by 91原创 Community School Children鈥檚 Choir.

Santa should complete his hike up from the docks to the community hall by 5:30 p.m. Many people join him for the walk.

The evening will feature some festive holiday celebration, including hot chocolate from Wendel鈥檚 and candy canes from Living Waters.

And, of course, the main act will be Santa 鈥渕agically鈥� lighting up the community Christmas tree on the front lawn of the hall.

Organizers say this has become quite a popular family tradition in the village, with hundreds expected to turn out.
