People can put Mastiff the Skunk or Gnocchi the Deer on their holiday wish lists.
The animals at Critter Care Wildlife Society rehabilitation centre in South 91原创 are some of the many animals that people can sponsor. A $25 gift supports the animal of choice, whether that's Charlie the Bear, Flame the coyote, or the most famous Critter Care resident Tucker the bobcat, who is a permanent resident as he is unable to survive in the wild.
Critter Care Wildlife Society specializes in the treatment, care and release of sick, injured and orphaned native mammal species of British Columbia鈥檚 Southern and Lower Mainland. It is the only facility in the province specializing in the care of mammals and Critter Care is one of only three bear rehabilitation facilities in the province.
Each year the rehab facility cares for more than 3,000 animals with the goal of releasing back into the wild those that are able to survive. Critter Care relies on public support to help in that work. One key way is through the annual Christmas Store.
Naturally, the items sold relate to wildlife, and include socks, hoodies and other apparel, as well as artwork, cards, and photos of wildlife. Also available is the Critter Care calendar.
The store is open Dec. 4 to 15 at the wildlife centre, 481 216 St., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The postal strike is impacting the society which relies on supporters mailing in donations during November and December. The organization is asking people to make donations online if possible. Go to www.crittercarewildlife.org/donate. They can also stop by the wildlife centre to make donations.
