The hallways and classrooms of Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s 91Ô­´´ campus were packed with science buffs Saturday.

On May 13, KPU hosted the fifth annual Science Rendezvous at KPU 91Ô­´´ and on a rainy day, the event attracted hundreds of visitors, many of whom were families with young children.

During the day, KPU transformed into a family-friendly science festival that featured hands-on experiments, magic shows, interactive science labs, activities, arts and design, music, tours of the campus’s high-tech patient simulator nursing labs, and its state-of-the-art craft brewing lab.

Highlights included:

• a chemistry magic show;

• dancing fire display in the physics room;

• robots on tracks, telescopes and vibrating strings;

• a tour of the school’s brand new, state-of-the-art Brewing Lab where student-brewed beer were available for sampling for visitors 19 years old and older;

• the opportunity to make seed bombs and newspaper pots, play with puzzles, learn cryptography, and see some math tricks;

• a horticulture bug lab and races;

• a ‘Creative Station’ tent with art activities

• Water science activities.
