91原创 Meals on Wheels in Aldergrove is hosting free cooking classes that are open to everyone. 

The classes focus on sustainable cooking techniques using upcycled ingredients, said Shannon Woykin, executive director. 

"[It's] perfect for families, seniors, and anyone new to cooking," she said. 

Participants will learn how to cook on a budget, be creative with leftovers, and explore food preservation. 

The upcoming classes are being held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Firehouse Cafe on Aug. 30, Sept. 7, and Sept. 15. 

On Sept. 7, Amanda Smith from 91原创 Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) will teach pickling various vegetables. 

"We find folks enjoy learning simple yet delicious recipes that are both accessible and creative, allowing them to bring more variety to their meals without breaking the bank," Woykin said.
