saw more than 100 riders travel from Cloverdale to Easter Seals Camp Squamish, raising more than $34,000 to help send kids with disabilities to camp this summer.

The ride is organized by Cloverdale’s Brenden Parker and his family in an effort to give youth the chance to go to the Easter Seals summer camp, as Brenden did for seven years.

The program is a sleep-away summer camp for youth from ages 6 to 18 who have a mental or physical disability. The camp provides a safe, fun environment where kids and teens can participate in activities that they might have never been able to try before, including water polo, canoeing and wheelchair basketball.

BC Easter Seals charges $500 a week for the camp. Although the fee makes up only a portion of what it costs to host a camper for the week, it is a barrier for some families and prevents them from being able to send their kids to camp.

The $34,000 raised this year will go towards Brenden’s Helping Hand, which provides a subsidy for families that need financial aid in order to send their child to camp.
