It was Kayd's, 13, first time participating in the annual Aldergrove garage sale, which he was hoping to sell some items him and his sister don't use anymore.
"It's a good way to make some cash and maybe find something useful. What we don't sell will be [donated]," he shared.
He added that the community-wide garage sale was the push they needed to get rid of some things.
The most unique item he had for sale was a karaoke machine, which was gifted to his sister six years ago.
"We put it to a lot of use. There's a little disco ball on top that lights up," he told The Star.
Next door, his neighbour Nathan, 13, also participated for the first time and was selling some of his hockey gear, Xbox360 games, Pokemon book, some clothes, and more.
The garage sale is organized by Jodi Steeves and Lori Neville, from Aldergrove Community Awareness, who had the idea six years ago.
"We worked together on it and here we are six years later, and it keeps getting better and better," Neville said.
This year had 49 homes participating, Steeves said. Last year holds the record of 61 homes though.
"We're very grateful to be in Aldergrove and to have such amazing people," Neville said.
"Garage sales are fun, as you never know what kind of treasures you will find. I love seeing how excited some get while they are shopping," Steeves commented.
