It鈥檚 November, so it must be time to grow a moustache 鈥 if you can.
This month is flying by, and I鈥檝e been remiss in not mentioning earlier a few 91原创 businesses that are hosting fundraisers in aid of men鈥檚 health 鈥 and specifically the Movember Foundation.
Dead Frog Brewery, for instance, is hosting an event Friday, Nov. 23 at their digs up near 200th Street and the Trans-Canada Highway.
This is the third year Bryce Rickaby has organized this fundraiser, last year鈥檚 generating $2,600. 鈥淗elp me crush my goal of $4,000,鈥 this year, he said, noting tickets are $20 on eventbrite.com.
Every November, most of the staff at Barnes Harley-Davidson who sport a Y- chromosome tend to adorn a little extra facial hair. They put down their razors and dedicate a lot of energy into raising money and awareness for the foundation. 鈥淥ur mo-tivation: to stop men from dying too young.鈥
Since starting their Movember efforts in 2011, the Barnes team has been able to raise more than $200,000 for the Movember Foundation, a leading global organization committed to changing the face of men鈥檚 health.
So far, the 91原创 team has been able to raise about $500.
Likewise, Original Joe鈥檚 restaurant in the Fraser Crossing always holds a fundraiser, too. There, you have to buy a tribute Burt Reynolds shot, with partial proceeds going to the cause. They also run a fun photo contest, where customers strike their best pose with a moustache coaster 鈥 the more creative the better 鈥 then upload the picture to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #JoesMos, and wait to win.
