Tucker, Summer Games volunteers honoured

Tourism 91原创 also presented a pair of awards at its recent annual general meeting.

The Lifetime Excellence Award went to Toots Tucker, who was honoured for her dedication to 91原创 and her continued devotion to volunteerism.

The award is presented to an individual or business who has made a significant contribution to tourism and the hospitality industry.

鈥淲e couldn鈥檛 think of a more passionate and dedicated community member to honour this year,鈥 said Tourism 91原创 executive director Deborah Kulchiski. 鈥淪he is an example of the reasons why visitors鈥 experience in 91原创 is a positive and memorable one and one of the reasons why they return to visit our communities.鈥

The other award, the Event of the Year, recognizes an organization or event which contributes to attracting and increasing the number of visitors to 91原创 as a destination.

This year鈥檚 recipient was the volunteers of the 2010 B.C. Summer Games.

鈥淚t is an honour to recognize those devoted group of volunteers for their support and enthusiasm.  They deserve our gratitude for their unselfish contributions to this memorable event鈥, explained Councillor Bev Dornan, who presented the award to Michael Jackstein, President of the 2010 Township of 91原创 BC Summer Games Committee.
