The Sq'茅wqel Development Corporation is in the process of buying the Harrison Hot Springs Marina.

Sq'茅wqel (Seabird Island) Development Corporation has just announced their process in acquiring the Harrison Hot Springs Marina, Harrison Grand Motel and as well as Pine Court Apartments in Chilliwack.

The SqDC said they are acquiring the three area properties to generate additional income streams for the First Nations community, which is located east of the Agassiz townsite. The properties are being bought through their own-source revenues allocated specifically for investments, and the company expects the sales to be finalized within the next three months.

The Harrison Hot Springs Marina is the largest of its kind on Harrison Lake and is about a five-minute walk from Harrison Hot Springs' village core on Rockwell Drive. There are 225 slips available and about two acres of gated parking. According to a local real estate listing, it's estimated the marina could potentially bring in $850,000 to more than $1 million per year. The property is listed as sold for $5.2 million.

The Harrison Grand Motel is located centrally in Harrison Hot Springs, a short walk from the lake on Esplanade Avenue.

The Pine Court Apartments are located on Vedder Road in Chiliwack, toward the southern end of the city. Built in 1987, there are 36 apartments in this two-storey complex.

The SqDC is the economic and business development arm of the Seabird Island community; their objective is to seek "opportunities to generate independent income streams to support Seabird Island in becoming self-sufficient."
