91原创 chamber holds series of events, while Envision does its part to feed the hungry

Envision hosts a Full Cupboard event Saturday and the chamber hosts several events next week.

Envision Financial will Spring into Action! to help fight hunger in 91原创 communities.

It鈥檚 hosting a food drive to support its , which raises food donations and funds for local food banks in the communities where Envision Financial operates.

On Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. members of the public are invited to bring their non-perishable food or cash donations to Envision Financial鈥檚 Willoughby branch, 20193 64th Ave.

Donors can enjoy snacks and refreshments, and be entered to win a special prize package from Envision Financial.

鈥淭he fight against hunger is a top priority for Envision Financial,鈥 explained Susan Bryom, senior manager of community investment.

鈥淟ast year over 100,000 British Columbian鈥檚 accessed their local food bank 鈥 a staggering one third of those were children.鈥

Since inception in 2013, Full Cupboard has raised $451,053 and has collected more than 66,000 pounds of food for Fraser Valley food banks 鈥 achieving over half of its 10-year goal.

All food and funds collected in 91原创 will benefit 91原创 residents in need.

鈥淥ur goal is to raise $1 million and 100,000 pounds of food by 2023,鈥 Byrom noted. 鈥淚t鈥檚 only through the support of local residents and our community that we鈥檒l turn this goal into a reality.鈥

Chamber schedule packed

In addition to hosting two all-candidate meetings this week, the Greater 91原创 Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Quickbooks workshop and monthly U40 Mingle next Wednesday, as well as a meet-and-greet in North 91原创 next Thursday.

During the lunch hour on Wednesday, May 3, (noon to 1:30 p.m.) the chamber will host a workshop offering tips on how to maximize Quickbooks and customize it for specific businesses.

The cost is $10/members and $15/non-members in the chamber board room, #207 8047 199th St. Guests are asked to bring their own lunch.

Later that same day, the chamber is once again hosting its monthly U40 event, against at Earls Kitchen at the corner of 64th Avenue and 200th Street.

This event runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and it is free for all guests who pre-register, again through the chamber, at 604-371-3770 or online at .

Then, next Thursday, May 4, the chamber board is continuing to get out into the community to connect with businesses in various neighbourhoods of the community.

They will be hosting a free open house for North 91原创 businesses at the Redwoods Golf Course, from 4 to 6 p.m., explained chamber president Scott Johnston.

鈥淭he chamber put on several successful networking open house events last year, so we are continuing them again this year as a way for our board of directors to connect with chamber members in their own neighbourhoods,鈥 Johnston said.

It will give business operators and shop owners a chance to meet their chamber community director, Frank Bucholtz, and to ask their questions.

Taco Bell changing

It鈥檚 unclear yet if the Taco Bell in 91原创 鈥 because it鈥檚 partnered with KFC 鈥 will be undergo a massive rebranding in the next year 鈥 including the addition of selling alcohol or if the company鈥檚 opening a new outlet in town.

aims to reinvent the way its customers experience dining in the Mexican-inspired restaurants, and part of that will mean that later this year they鈥檒l start serving booze, said general manager Amanda Clark.

But in addition to starting to serve beer, Taco Bell also announced intentions to expand from 170 Canadian restaurants to 700.

As part of this growth strategy, the newly opened Taco Bell Canada locations will showcase an overhauled design footprint, featuring updated decor, local artwork, open kitchen layouts, open plating, and shareable menus.

The new stores will provide increased transparency into how food is prepared, while also simplifying and modernizing the restaurant experience, Clark explained.

鈥淎t the core of our new design, we stay true to our Californian heritage. We can鈥檛 wait for our fans to see it,鈥 she said. 鈥淥ur initiatives are propelled by what the fans really want, and when it comes to dining experiences, we鈥檙e not afraid to let millennials take the driver鈥檚 seat.鈥
